Vespa World Days

The Vespa World Days 2014 set a record as the largest Vespa Club event every organised closes at Mantua Italy on 14 June. The 10k long parade of Vespa that travelled the streets of Mantua yesterday and then took to the roads of the Lombard province until reaching San Benedetto Po was quite a sight to behold, as never before seen. An estimated 10,000 Vespa is believed to have participated; from 132 Vespa Clubs over 32 Countries including Europe, Argentina, Brazil, Israel, USA, Jordan and Kuwait.

Mantua was engulfed in four days of music, partying, friendship and love for Vespa. During the awards ceremony, the Vespa Club Pordenone ranked first and claimed the Vespa Trophy, the competition among Vespa riders that kept logs of their journey towards Mantua in their Travel Book. A trophy to tourism that involved 25 Countries around the world. The goal was to reach Mantua while visiting the greatest number of Check Points and with the most Vespa possible. Pordenone dominated the rankings, surpassing Vespa Club Cerignola and the Serbian Vespa Club “We Ride Everywhere”. The Vespa Club d’Italia rendered praise to all national Vespa Clubs that took part in the event. Piaggio Multimedia Platform Links Scooters to the World

The Piaggio Multimedia Platform (PMP) is the innovative system available for the new generation of Piaggio X10 and MP3 maxiscooters. With PMP you can add a lot of info on your smartphone compared to what is already available with the standard instrumentation, making travelling even safer and more comfortable

PMP connects Two Wheelers to the smartphone and, by consequence, to the Internet. With PMP the smartphone becomes a true and proper sophisticated multifunctional on-board computer. Once again Piaggio opens a window on the future, casting the foundations for a new way of approaching communication on scooters, with huge possibilities for development and applications.

The wireless connection allows riders to visualize simultaneously on the smartphone display important information about the vehicle in order to always keep the journey parameters under control. The various parameters can be configured as preferred by the touch screen interface of the smartphone. Speedometer, rpm indicator but also the instant engine power and torque, longitudinal acceleration, instant and average fuel consumption, average speed and battery voltage - these are but a few of the functions available.

PMP technology increases rider and passenger safety. A blinking of the virtual dashboard warns for a forgotten turn indicator. The tyre status control function (only available for the ABS/ASR versions) synergically exploits the sensors on the smartphone and on the vehicle to monitor wear and inflation of the tyres, warning the user immediately before any potentially critical situations can arise; the general analysis function allows to check the vehicle status, explaining - in the case of an anomaly - the correct and the nearest authorised dealer you can go to. The interaction functions are disabled by default for safety reasons.

Piaggio PMP is also designed for comfort. If fuel is low, the system automatically indicates the closest petrol stations and sets the route to follow directly on the navigation app pre-installed on the smartphone. The PMP automatically stores the last position of the vehicle before the engine is switched off, allowing to easily find it if needed.

It is possible to store all the journey data so as to analyse them later on a personal computer. PMP contains the owner's manual of the vehicle always available for browsing.
The kit, part of a comprehensive range of accessories available for all the X10 and MP3 MY 2013 includes the wiring and the communication unit between the smartphone and the vehicle. The applications and their updates can be downloaded free of charge from Appstore and Google Play.
